America has sold the black community mantras that appear in social media as hashtags such as #BlackExcellence and #BlackGirlMagic. Meanwhile, the black household is struggling economically. Our public schools underfunded and administered with apathy and disregard.
In a place like Chicago where racial divide is as clear as asking what side of town you're from? Black Celebrities often speak of business with simplicity and grandeur. It's unfortunately is an illusion. While celebrities may look like us, give advice, even speak like us--they do not LIVE LIKE US.
While there is nothing wrong with starting your own business, one must also take into account how many of us work for ourselves because no one else is hiring!
I close this post with this in mind. There is a difference between someone who owns a business and who is self employed. According to (fundera.com), "With 28 million small businesses making up 99.7% of all U.S. firms, small business is big for the United States’s economy." also, "Depending on your industry, a small business could be defined as business with a maximum of 250 employees or a maximum of 1,500 employees."
